Blue Cross VT and Blue Cross Michigan jointly commit aid to Vermont Flood Response and Recovery Fund 2023.
Berlin, Vermont — Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont and our partner Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan jointly pledged $100,000 to the VT Flood Response and Recovery Fund 2023 to support the state’s recovery and rebuilding after the devastating July floods. Additionally, employees from both the Michigan and Vermont plans are making individual contributions to the recovery that will be matched.
“So many Vermonters are struggling with significant loss from catastrophic flooding,” said Don George, President and CEO of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont. “Blue Cross VT is committed to helping our beloved state recover. Our employees are on the ground rolling up their sleeves to help neighbors clean out basements and businesses, and our partners have committed their financial support. We are stronger together.”
“Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan’s thoughts and sympathies are with those affected by the devastating flooding in Vermont,” said Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan President and CEO Daniel J. Loepp. “We eagerly join our friends and colleagues at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont in extending financial support to help Vermonters recover and rebuild, and we join the nation in wishing for the continued health and safety of residents and disaster-relief responders.”
Individual employees at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan will also be making donations that will be matched up to $10,000 and will go to the VT Flood Response and Recovery Fund 2023. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont employees are contributing to Green Mountain United Way Flood Disaster Relief Fund and these amounts will be matched up to $10,000 as well. Michiganders and Vermonters share a sense of commitment to our communities and coming together to support each other.
Blue Cross VT employees are volunteering in local communities through the organization’s Blue Crew Day of Service program. Employees receive a day each year to volunteer in support of a charitable organization or important cause. Many are choosing to help clean up the small businesses, neighbors’ homes and other entities impacted by the floodwaters in our downtowns across the state.
